Appel Farm Arts & Music Festival Volunteers Include Bauer & Herczeg 6/05/2004 Leona Bauer and Susan Herczeg volunteered with the 2004 Appel Farm Arts and Music Festival on June 5, 2004. Both have volunteered with the festival for more than ten years. The Festival benefits the Appel Farm private summer arts camp for children. Herczeg Works to Refurbish Lemon Hill Mansion 5/15/2004 Susan Herczeg participated in Philadelphia Cares About Fairmount Park Day on May 15, 2004 by cleaning & painting Lemon Hill Mansion. Kathleen Livingston Participates in Race for the Cure 3/22/2003 Kathleen Livingston participated in the 2003 Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation 20th Anniversary Race for the Cure. Foundation funds go toward the fight against breast cancer through its support of innovative research and community-based outreach programs. Working through a network of U.S. and international Affiliates and events like the Komen Race for the CureŽ, the Komen Foundation is fighting to eradicate breast cancer as a life-threatening disease by funding research grants and supporting education, screening and treatment projects in communities around the world. Mummer's Hall of Fame Adds George Badey 12/08/2003 George Badey was elected to the Mummers' String Band Hall of Fame in December of 2003, having played saxophone with the Fralinger String Band. George also serves as Public Relations Director for the Philadelphia Mummers Association. Drexel University Board Adds Steve Sheller 11/20/2003 Stephen A. Bridget Clarke Working with Fairmount Park Safety 11/2003 Bridget Clarke is a current member of the committee meeting with Philadelphia government regarding safety issues in Fairmount Park. Money for Alzheimer's Unit at Lankenau Raised by Leanne Brown 10/18/2003 Leanne Brown is active with the John B. Deaver Auxiliary of Lankenau Hospital where she participated in the 2003 Rocking Chair Marathon to benefit Alzheimer's unit. Villanova Pro Bono Clinic Guest Bartender Leanne Brown 10/17/2003 Leanne Brown is a volunteer for the Villanova Law School Pro Bono for CARES clinic where she acted as a guest bartender at Brownies 23 East to raise money in 2003. Steve Sheller Revels in Jazz - Appointed to Cape May Board 10/15/2003 Friends of Cape May Jazz, Inc. appointed Stephen A. Sheller, Esquire to the newly established honorary board. Other members are Assemblyman Nicholas Asselta (R) of Cumberland County, Assemblyman Jeff Van Drew (D) of Cape May County, Honorable Richard B. Griffin, York and Brown Participate in 2000 Year Old Dragon Boat Tradition 10/4/2003 Nancy Renay Griffin served as Captain of the Dragon Boat that raced in the Second Annual Dragon Boat Festival in October of 2003. M. Elizabeth York, Paralegal and Leanne Brown also participated in the race. Proceeds of the race benefited Fox Chase Cancer Center. "We're proud to be the beneficiary of the Philadelphia Dragon Boat Festival," said Robert C. Young, M.D., president of Fox Chase Cancer Center and national president of the American Cancer Society. "We are extremely grateful for the generous donation to cancer research from the Festival's participants, sponsors, and spectators. We commend the spirit of the competition and share in the exhilaration of victory." Center City House Tour Participants Include Leona Bauer and Susan Herczeg 10/2003 Leona Bauer and Susan Herczeg participated in the 2003 Center City Residents' Association (CCRA) House Tour. CCRA is one of Philadelphia's oldest civic associations. It is dedicated to maintaining and improving the quality of life in the area between South Street and JFK Boulevard, Broad Street to the Schuylkill River which includes historic Rittenhouse Square. Leona and Susan have been involved with CCRA for several years. Advocating for Smokers' Rights - Steve Sheller Makes Top List 7/11/2003 Stephen A. Sheller was named a finalist in the Trial Lawyer of the Year Award given by Trial Lawyers for Public Justice "for discovering the light cigarette fraud and initiating the litigation strategy to remedy the deception." Radnor Democrats Elect George Badey Vice-Chair 6/27/2003 George Badey has been elected to the position of Vice-Chairman of the Radnor Township Delaware County Democratic Party. Runner Bridge Clarke Earns Elite Status in Boston Marathon 4/21/2003 Bridget Clarke has earned the title "elite status" in marathon running, having finished 45th overall in the female category and 33rd in the American female category of the 2003 Boston Marathon. She is a member of the Peak Performance Racing Team and is a board member of Philadelphia Runners. Rendell Appoints Trusted Advocate, Steve Sheller, to Transition Team 1/11/2003 Edward G. Poet, Scott George Gets Involved with Neighborhood Revitalization 2003 Scott Alan George is a published poet, and is involved in neighborhood revitalization as a neighborhood representative in a street greening and mosaic project and as volunteer counsel to the Bella Vista Zoning Committee. Miniatures Society Appoints Michael DiGenova as Treasurer 2002 Micheal DiGenova acts as the Treasurer to the New Jersey Miniatures Society, which is a chapter of the Historical Miniatures Gamers Society. He is also an active member of Jobs with Justice. George Badey Has Mummery in his Blood 12/2001 The Main Line Ticket reports that George Badey III of Sheller Ludwig & Badey has been a saxophone player for the Mummers' Fralinger Sting Band since 1976, when he started as part of a father-and-son team. Jamie Sheller PaTLA Coordinates with Habitat for Humanity 06/1998 Jamie Sheller coordinated more than 50 lawyer-volunteers to help refurbish a row-house in North Philadelphia. It took volunteers nearly two years to complete the project sponsored by the Philadelphia Bar Association and Friends of Habitat for Humanity.
